New Google Smell Feature - Must Try Today!!!
3 min read

Google just launched a new feature that was seriously missing to the web! You must try it today!
Google-Nose-BETA

A new web era of tactile and sensorial discovery

Long has web shopping and interactions been criticised for its cold, inhumane interface and our inability to connect with our other sense such as taste, touch or smell.
Thanks to Google, today, the web becomes a lot more sensorial with the launch of Google Smell.
Imagine the realm of possibility offered by this new features. Interact online, learn to cook with the added smell to it, how much better would your experience be.
What about a dating site? Researchers have identified that smell plays an important factor in our socio-sexual relationships due to pheromones.  Imagine smelling someone’s perfume before even just meeting them. Spotting those that smell fishy rather than sweet could be a definite advantage in pre-screening candidates.

Known issues & Feature help

Google Smell is still in Beta so there are still a few issues that haven’t been ironed out. Not all devices worked for me. I spend the first 30 minutes of my day sniffing my iPad, iPhone and Desktop tower. If you too are experiencing issues, you might refer to the following known issues listed in the help section.
[info]If you are experiencing problems with Google NoseBETA, please note the following:

  • “418: Scent transfer protocol error” indicates system congestion; please try again later.
  • Due to technological constraints, not all smells are compatible with all devices.
  • Refrain from licking or biting your screen.
  • Try upgrading to a modern browser, such as Google Chrome.
  • It is April Fools’ Day.[/info]

Happy Easter long weekend and thanks Google for the chuckle! 🙂
